Before organizing a Forever dungeon group, agree on where you will play. Blizzard’s ruleset announcement establishes who can group together; its October 8 podcast covers dungeon leveling and questing. These notes were checked on October 17, 2026.

Choose the same ruleset and faction

Forever replaces traditional realm selection with rulesets. Dungeon and raid grouping stays within the chosen ruleset, and Horde and Alliance cannot group together. A friend choosing PvP while you choose Normal is therefore a practical obstacle to running dungeons together, not just a difference in outdoor preference.

Plan before character creation

Characters cannot freely move between rulesets. Blizzard says playing in another ruleset requires creating a new character there. Hardcore is scheduled for after launch and has separate progression rules. Confirm your group’s choice before investing in characters intended to play together.

Follow the dungeon discussion

Episode 3 of the official Forever podcast features designers Josh Greenfield, Jay Hartman and Rowan Ryder discussing dungeon leveling and questing. Use the linked episode for that developer discussion. An episode announcement alone does not verify a boss strategy, entry requirement or experience-per-hour claim. Specific dungeon walkthroughs need current encounter evidence before they become recommendations.
