The wiki lists drops at item level 22–28, so the keep stays useful into the mid-20s.
Forever-specific changes
- Quest XP cut. Blizzard's October 1 notes halved dungeon quests' extra XP. A DualShockers report cited by Bind on Forever puts Shadowfang Keep's quests at 19,800 XP together, down from 32,200 (about 38% less). Still a big chunk of a level in the 20s.
- Kill XP up. The October 8 notes raised dungeon creature XP by about 20%.
- Changed loot. The wiki flags Blade of Silverlaine as changed in Forever, and Blizzard says every dungeon drop was re-examined (Deep Dive recap). Quest rewards weren't confirmed in beta data.
- Legacy point. Bind on Forever ties it to Novice Spelunker, part of Blizzard's Legacy goal for level 15–25 dungeons (Legacy points guide).

After Rethilgore, free your faction's prisoner (Deathstalker Adamant for Horde, Sorcerer Ashcrombe for Alliance) to open the courtyard door, per the wiki.
Bosses
In client order (BoF): Rethilgore, Razorclaw the Butcher, Baron Silverlaine, Commander Springvale, Odo the Blindwatcher, Fenrus the Devourer, Wolf Master Nandos and Archmage Arugal. Interrupt Springvale's Holy Light and remove Silverlaine's curse.
How Forever changed dungeon XP and loot
- Quest bonus cut. Blizzard's October 1 notes say "Dungeon quests now reward 50% less extra experience beyond normal quest values." The normal quest XP stayed, so a dungeon's quests are still worth doing once.
- More XP from kills. The October 8 notes raised experience from dungeon creatures by about 20%, made the party XP penalty apply per member, and lowered dungeon quest rewards from Rare to Uncommon.
- Loot was re-examined. Blizzard's Deep Dive recap says "every dungeon drop has been re-examined", hundreds of new drops were added, unique dungeon boss items are now blue and set bonuses were improved. If a bind-on-pickup Uncommon or Rare drops, its appearance goes to every eligible looter.
