Choose RestedXP if you want the addon to decide your route: every quest in order, with an arrow to the next step. Choose Questie if you want to see quest locations and decide for yourself. Many players run both: RestedXP leads the route and Questie fills in quest details around it. The settings below make that combination clean.

The settings below were checked on 22 October 2026 against Questie 12.1.0 with QuestieDB 1.0.6 and RestedXP 4.11.27, using their Forever-supported releases.

Do you need Questie with RestedXP?

Questie is optional. RestedXP can supply its route instructions without it; the v4.11.27 addon manifest lists Questie as an optional dependency. Keep Questie if you also want its quest lookups and map information, then use the settings below to reduce overlap.

They do different jobs. Questie shows you every quest; RestedXP picks the ones worth doing and puts them in order. A nearby Questie marker that is not in the route is often a quest the Speedrun Guide skips to save time, so follow the route unless you want a detour.

RestedXP's Forever routes Affiliate link cover levels 1–35 today. The Forever 35–60 routes follow after launch, and the existing Era routes cover 35–60 until then. Keep the route, trim Questie's map pins

Start with RestedXP's current instruction visible. Then right-click Questie's minimap button to open its menu. Its released menu controls separate Available Quest from Objective markers.

  1. Leave available quests visible if you want to spot optional pickups near the route.
  2. If Questie's objective markers obscure the route you are following, uncheck Objective and look at the map again.
  3. Restore that filter when you want Questie to show objectives for a side quest. You do not need to change your guide selection to make that display choice.

Avoid hiding everything as your first adjustment. Questie's minimap shortcuts distinguish Ctrl + Shift + left-click, which toggles its notes, from Ctrl + right-click, which hides its minimap button. Removing the button does not identify which quest markers were cluttering the map.

Choose a quest tracker deliberately

RestedXP's step window and a quest tracker are not equivalent: one gives route instructions, while the other lists tracked quest progress.

To review Questie's tracker, Shift + left-click its minimap button, open Tracker and inspect Enable Tracker. Its setting description says enabling it replaces Blizzard's quest tracker; changing it reloads the interface. Make that change out of combat.

If you prefer the native tracker, disable Questie's replacement. If Questie's tracker gives you the progress view you want, keep it. Treat this separately from the map filters above: choose the list you want to read, then remove unnecessary pins.

Stop duplicate party announcements

RestedXP already has specific handling for Questie, so check this before disabling either addon.

Type /rxp to open RestedXP's options, then select Communications. Leave Ignore Questie announcements unchecked if you want RestedXP to defer to Questie for quest-completion and collection messages.

The wording can be misleading: enabling that option makes RestedXP send those messages even when Questie is enabled. The current settings and announcement code confirm the distinction. It is an override for RestedXP's messages, not a switch that silences Questie.

RestedXP has this Questie handling built in, so the two addons are designed to run side by side.

Give quest automation to one addon

For the first combined check, keep quest conversations manual. That lets you see which quests you accept and which completed quests you hand in.

In Questie Options → Auto, turn off Auto Accept Quests and Auto Complete Quests. Those are separate controls in Questie's Forever-loaded configuration. In RestedXP's General settings, turn off Quest auto accept/turn in.

After checking the setup, you can enable your preferred addon's automation. Keep the other disabled for that job. Questie can still be useful for quest information when you are using RestedXP's route; you do not need both addons handling the same NPC conversation.

Check the combination on one quest

Use a quest you are ready to do, rather than changing several options halfway through a complicated route section.

  1. At pickup: read the guide's instruction, accept the named quest and confirm it appears in your quest log.
  2. At the objective: compare the written instruction with your selected map display. If a marker is unclear, change one Questie filter and check again.
  3. At hand-in: confirm completion in the quest log, hand it in and read the next route instruction. A hidden marker alone is not a reason to mark a guide step complete.

Keep the combined setup if both views answer a useful question. For self-directed questing, the free Questie guide is a better next read. If either addon fails to load, use our Forever installation checks before changing display settings.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need Questie with RestedXP in WoW Forever?

No. RestedXP lists Questie as an optional dependency and gives you the full route without it. Add Questie if you also want quest lookups and map markers outside the route.

Can RestedXP and Questie run at the same time?

Yes. Hide Questie's objective markers while you follow the route, let one addon handle quest automation, and leave Ignore Questie announcements unchecked so party messages are not duplicated.

Is Questie or RestedXP better for leveling in Forever?

RestedXP is built for leveling quickly in a set order; Questie is better for exploring and choosing your own quests. If you want to try the RestedXP Forever routes Affiliate link, our link takes 10% off.
