Deadmines in WoW Forever is still the Defias hideout under Moonbrook in Westfall, with eight bosses and Edwin VanCleef's ship at the end. What changed is around it: a new Alliance quest, reworked loot, new set bonuses, lower dungeon quest XP and full coverage in RestedXP's Alliance route. Everything below is cited; ranges come from fan reads of the game client because Blizzard hasn't published official levels for Classic dungeons (Wowforevertierlist). For every dungeon's quests in one place, see our dungeon quests guide.

What level is Deadmines in WoW Forever?

SourceLevel
Bind on Forever (Group Finder, from the client)17–26, unchanged from Classic (BoF)
Warcraft Forever WikiRecommended 17–26, Group Finder 16 (wiki)
RestedXP free chapterAlliance, levels 19–20 (our RestedXP dungeon guide)

Most quests can be picked up from around level 14–15 per the wiki, so collect them while questing in Westfall and Redridge.

Forever-specific changes

  • New quest: Destruction in Deadmines. Alliance-only, from Alba Fairmoon in Westfall. You plant explosives near the hidden forge and meet her at the exit. Bind on Forever and the wiki both flag it as new in Forever; rewards weren't confirmed in beta data.
  • Two quest fixes from Blizzard. The October 1 notes made Destruction in Deadmines sort correctly in the quest log, and the November 2 notes fixed Alba Fairmoon so you can turn it in.
  • New reward choices. Two of Shoni the Shilent's four rewards for Underground Assault, Bravo's Armbands and Dreamer's Leggings, are new in Forever according to the wiki.
  • Blackened Defias set. The wiki reports changed set bonuses, citing a fan datamine for a 4-piece bonus that can make targets bleed when you hit from behind. Treat the exact number as unconfirmed until launch.
  • Legacy point. Bind on Forever ties the Deadmines to Novice Spelunker. Blizzard's Legacy article lists "Defeat the final boss in all level 15 to 25 dungeons" as a challenge. See our Legacy points guide.

Deadmines quests

Bind on Forever counts 14 Alliance quests tied to the run, from Stormwind, Westfall, Redridge and Dun Morogh. The core ones:

Loot VanCleef for An Unsent Letter: it leads to the Stockade and The Stockade Riots.

Bosses

In the order the client lists them (BoF): Rhahk'Zor, Sneed, Miner Johnson, Gilnid, Captain Greenskin, Mr. Smite, Cookie and Edwin VanCleef. Bind on Forever marks Miner Johnson as a new encounter entry; the wiki treats him as a skippable rare. Boss abilities in fan guides are still Classic data.

How Forever changed dungeon XP and loot

  • Quest bonus cut. Blizzard's October 1 notes say "Dungeon quests now reward 50% less extra experience beyond normal quest values." The normal quest XP stayed, so a dungeon's quests are still worth doing once.
  • More XP from kills. The October 8 notes raised experience from dungeon creatures by about 20%, made the party XP penalty apply per member, and lowered dungeon quest rewards from Rare to Uncommon.
  • Loot was re-examined. Blizzard's Deep Dive recap says "every dungeon drop has been re-examined", hundreds of new drops were added, unique dungeon boss items are now blue and set bonuses were improved. If a bind-on-pickup Uncommon or Rare drops, its appearance goes to every eligible looter.

Our dungeons vs questing guide covers when a run beats questing.

RestedXP Dungeon Guide coverage

RestedXP's 3 November notes list the Deadmines as mandatory for the Alliance and optional for the Horde. The free Alliance chapter covers it at levels 19–20. Details are in our RestedXP Dungeon Guide page; the Horde's best low-level run is Wailing Caverns. For other dungeons, start at Forever dungeons.
