Druid Leveling Guide for WoW Forever: Feral Talents, Rotation and Tips
Level a Druid in WoW Forever: Feral after the 2 November talent changes, Cat Form at 20, shapeshifting changes, Shifting Power, professions, Legacy perks.
EnlargeLevel a Druid as Feral in WoW Forever. Before 20, caster form with spell power gear does the work. From level 20, use Cat Form: keep Rake and Rip up and build combo points with Shred or Claw. Shifting Power is now a 31-point talent, so it arrives around level 40. Forever's shapeshifting changes are a big help. You can drink potions, open doors and use racials without leaving form, and weapon procs and sharpening stones work in form. Blizzard's November 2 development notes reworked the Feral tree one more time: Berserk is removed, Shifting Power and Primal Bite are now the two 31-point talents (Cat and Bear), Lacerate became a row-4 talent and Heart of the Wild moved to Restoration. Cat damage went up across the board.
This guide covers the Forever Druid changes that matter for leveling, then spec, talents, rotation, professions, camp buffs and Legacy perks. For the complete list of class changes, see our Druid changes in WoW Forever page.
Sources: Blizzard's Hunter and Druid class deep dive, Wowhead's Feral Druid leveling guide and Wowhead's October 30 class tuning report. Checked 3 November 2026 and updated on 4 November against Blizzard's November 2 development notes. Druid talents were reworked on October 30 and again in the November 2 notes. Guides written before then still mention Berserk or list Shifting Power at 16 points, so we only list talents confirmed in Blizzard's final notes.
What Forever changed for leveling Druids
From Blizzard's deep dive, the shapeshifting changes are the headline:
- Potions and almost all consumables work in form and don't cancel it. Druids can also use rage potions and Thistle Tea. Most engineering bombs are still the exception.
- Weapon enchantments and procs work in form, including weightstones, Crusader and Windfury Totem.
- Your weapon matters in form. Bear and Cat auto-attack damage per second now equals your weapon's damage per second, at a fixed attack speed.
- Doors and most objects can be used without leaving form, and racial abilities such as Shadowmeld and War Stomp work in form.
- Tiger's Fury is removed and replaced by the Feral talent Shifting Power, now a 31-point talent.
Baseline changes that help while leveling:
| Level | Change |
|---|---|
| 10 | Nature's Grasp baseline, castable in form and indoors |
| 12 | Revive, a new out-of-combat resurrection |
| 20 | Omen of Clarity baseline; Clearcasting is never consumed by Wrath |
| Any | Entangling Roots castable indoors; Barkskin usable in form; Hurricane has no cooldown |
| Any | Faerie Fire usable in Bear and Cat Form at no cost, with a 6-second cooldown |
| Any | Claw (140% weapon damage) and Shred (200%) hit much harder since November 2; Rake, Rip, Ferocious Bite and Pounce got about 25% more base damage and attack power scaling |
| 24 | Ferocious Bite gets a new rank 1 at level 24 |
| 32 | Poised, a new passive: at full energy out of combat, your next energy ability costs 10 less |
Best Druid leveling spec: Feral
| Spec | Leveling verdict | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Feral | Best | Cat Form damage, Bear Form safety, self-heals between pulls; Wowhead's leveling pick |
| Balance | Good | Cheaper Wrath, Insect Swarm at 16 points, Eclipse, Starfire +40% (November 2); more mana pressure |
| Restoration | Dungeons | Strong healer; slow solo |
Feral is the most flexible leveling spec in Forever. Go Cat for damage, switch to Bear when a pull goes wrong, and heal yourself in caster form between pulls. Planning to heal while you level? See leveling as a healer.
Feral talents after the November 2 changes
Talents start at level 10, milestones unlock at 11, 16, 21 and 31 points in a tree, and you can respec at a class trainer in a major city. Dual Spec unlocks at 40.
Confirmed in Blizzard's November 2 development notes:
- Berserk removed.
- Shifting Power is now a 1-point talent on row 7 (31 points) and needs Predatory Discipline. Wowhead's October 30 report had already cut its cooldown to 8 seconds.
- Primal Bite replaces Berserk as the other row-7 talent (Bear), needs Leader of the Pack and has 3 ranks.
- Predatory Discipline is new on row 4: Ferocious Bite no longer spends extra energy but still deals extra damage based on your excess energy.
- Lacerate is a 1-point row-4 talent (it is no longer learned by every Druid) and got two extra ranks so you can use it earlier.
- Heart of the Wild moved to the Restoration tree; Furor moved to Feral in its place.
- Leader of the Pack again raises all critical strikes and is exclusive with Moonkin Form's aura.
- Rend and Tear now gives up to 15% more damage to bleeding targets.
- Bear Form threat bonus rose from 50% to 115%, because Blessing of Salvation was removed.
Feral talents from Blizzard's deep dive that matter while leveling:
| Talent | What it does |
|---|---|
| Feral Swiftness (row 2) | Cat Form speed works indoors; the dodge bonus applies all the time |
| Savage Fury (row 3) | Now also boosts Shred |
| Sharpened Claws | Now 2 points for the same effect |
| Feral Charge (11-point milestone) | Now also has a Cat Form version (30-second cooldown) |
| Predatory Discipline (row 4, Cat) | Ferocious Bite keeps its excess-energy damage without spending the energy |
| Lacerate (row 4, Bear) | A bleed and threat tool for Bear Form |
| Shifting Power (31-point milestone, Cat) | Replaces Tiger's Fury; needs Predatory Discipline |
| Primal Bite (31-point milestone, Bear) | A high-threat Bear attack; needs Leader of the Pack |
| Blood Frenzy | Combines the old Primal Fury and Blood Frenzy into 2 points |
| Predatory Strikes (row 5) | Up to 20% more critical strike damage |
| Rend and Tear (row 6) | Up to 15% more melee damage to bleeding targets |
Because the tree changed so late, open the talent window in game and read each tooltip before spending points. Ignore any guide that tells you to take Berserk or Shifting Power before 31 points.
Druid leveling rotation
Levels 1–19, caster form: Wowhead suggests wearing spell power gear before Cat Form. Pull with Wrath (cheap in Forever), keep Moonfire up and heal yourself with Rejuvenation or Healing Touch. Entangling Roots works indoors now.
From level 20, Cat Form (Wowhead's Feral guide, adjusted for Blizzard's November 2 talent changes):
- Rake, if the target will live 6 seconds or longer.
- Shred, or Claw when you're in front of the target, to build combo points.
- Rip at 5 combo points, if the target will live 6 seconds or longer.
- Ferocious Bite when the target is about to die or won't live long enough for Rip (Blizzard added a new rank 1 at level 24).
- Shifting Power on cooldown once you have the 31-point talent, around level 40.
Wowhead's advice is to pool energy so Rake and Rip have as little downtime as possible. AoE: Rake as many targets as you can, then fill with Shred or Claw.
When it goes wrong: switch to Bear Form, use Frenzied Regeneration (Blizzard says it now heals 100% of your maximum health over its duration, given enough rage) and Barkskin, which now works in form.
Between pulls: drop to caster form, top up with a heal, then Cat again. Omen of Clarity is baseline from 20, so Clearcasting procs are free.
Level-by-level milestones
| Level | What changes for a Druid |
|---|---|
| 10 | First talent point; Nature's Grasp |
| 12 | Revive |
| 20 | Cat Form (Wowhead); Omen of Clarity baseline |
| 24 | New Ferocious Bite rank 1 (Blizzard, November 2) |
| 25 | First Legacy Point from leveling |
| 32 | Poised passive |
| 40 | Dual Spec; 31 Feral points for Shifting Power or Primal Bite |
| 45 / 60 | Legacy Points from leveling |
Professions for a leveling Druid
Skinning and Leatherworking suit a Feral Druid. You wear leather, Skinning pays for itself and Leatherworking makes upgrades and the Camp Tent. Herbalism is a strong alternative gathering profession, and its Incense Candle gives Intellect at camps.
Add Cooking. Wowhead notes that Forever's Well Fed buffs also give 5% more experience from kills. They last 15 minutes, or 30 with the Gourmand Legacy perk.
Camp buffs and Legacy perks for Druids
| Camp feature | Profession | Note for Druids |
|---|---|---|
| Lodestone | Mining | Melee attack power for Cat Form |
| Sharpening Wheel | Blacksmithing | Strength |
| Camp Chair | Skinning | 2% crit; Wowhead's best Feral camp buff until Leader of the Pack; doesn't stack with Moonkin Aura |
| Fish Bowl | Fishing | 8% stats; doesn't stack with Blessing of Kings |
| Enchanted Lute | Enchanting | Doesn't stack with your own Mark of the Wild |
| Camp Tent | Leatherworking | Rested XP top-up |
Since Leader of the Pack and Moonkin Form are now exclusive with each other, check which crit buff you already have before chasing the Camp Chair. Our camping guide covers every feature and the stacking rules.
Legacy perks. Wowhead's Feral guide singles out two. Talented gives you up to 5 talent levels early, but it needs 5 points in Well Rested first. Gourmand is easy to get early and doubles your uptime on the 5% XP Well Fed buff. With only a few Legacy Points, Wowhead suggests Gourmand first. You earn Legacy Points at 25, 45 and 60 and from profession milestones.
Common Druid leveling mistakes
- Following an outdated talent build. Berserk is gone, and since November 2 Shifting Power and Primal Bite are 31-point talents.
- Melee gear before Cat Form. Wowhead suggests spell power gear until 20.
- Ignoring your weapon. In Forever, your weapon's damage per second sets your Cat and Bear auto-attack damage.
- Leaving form to drink a potion. You don't have to any more.
- Staying in Cat when a pull goes wrong. Bear Form, Frenzied Regeneration and Barkskin save the fight.
Druid leveling checklist
- Spell power gear and caster form until 20
- Nature's Grasp at 10, Revive at 12
- Cat Form and Omen of Clarity at 20
- Feral talents checked against the in-game tree (no Berserk; Shifting Power at 31 points)
- Skinning and Leatherworking, or Herbalism, plus Cooking
- Keep an upgraded weapon; it matters in form
- Dual Spec at 40
Shapeshift less, travel less
A Feral Druid has few downtime problems once Cat Form arrives, so lost time is mostly travel. RestedXP's Forever routes give every next step with an arrow. See our RestedXP for WoW Forever page.
Route changes on 3 November. RestedXP's 3 November update fixed the Aquatic Form questline, and Night Elf Druids now accept the Red Crystal quest before the Bear Form quest. In Skyborne, Horde Druid routing after level 10 was changed. If you already own the guide, re-import it after updating (how).

Frequently asked questions
What is the best Druid leveling spec in WoW Forever?
Feral. Wowhead calls it very viable, and Blizzard's November 2 notes raised Shred, Claw, Rake, Rip and Ferocious Bite damage. Use spell power gear until Cat Form at 20, then keep Rake and Rip up and fill with Shred or Claw. Shifting Power is now a 31-point talent, so it only joins the rotation around level 40. Bear Form lets you tank when needed.
Was Berserk removed in WoW Forever?
Yes. Blizzard's November 2 development notes confirm it: Berserk is gone, and Primal Bite now sits in its row-7 slot. Some guides written earlier still mention Berserk.
Can Druids use potions in forms in WoW Forever?
Yes. Blizzard says all potions and almost all similar consumables are now usable while shapeshifted and don't cancel your form. Most engineering bombs still can't be used.
What replaced Tiger's Fury in WoW Forever?
Shifting Power, a Feral talent for Cat Form. Blizzard's November 2 notes moved it to row 7, so it is now a 31-point talent that needs the new row-4 talent Predatory Discipline. Without Legacy talent points you reach it at level 40.
When do Druids get Cat Form in WoW Forever?
At level 20, according to Wowhead's Feral leveling guide. Omen of Clarity is also baseline from 20.
Does my weapon matter in Cat Form in WoW Forever?
Yes. Blizzard changed Bear and Cat Form so your auto-attack damage per second matches your equipped weapon's. Weapon enchantments and procs also work while shapeshifted.
What professions should a Druid take while leveling?
Skinning and Leatherworking for leather upgrades, money and the Camp Tent, or Herbalism as a gathering alternative. Add Cooking for food buffs and your own campfire.
