Blackmaw Hold in WoW Forever: Level, Entrance and Size
Blackmaw Hold, WoW Forever's level 55–60 furbolg dungeon behind Azshara's sealed gate: entrance coordinates, size, the known boss and what Blizzard said.
EnlargeBlackmaw Hold is WoW Forever's new furbolg dungeon for levels 55–60, in Azshara. Blizzard describes "a great furbolg city" beyond "a long-sealed gate", where the Blackmaw clan is fighting "a corruption spreading through its groves and winding mountain tunnels". Blizzard calls it "a substantial max-level adventure with multiple routes and bosses". It also hints that "you may discover a path leading even farther below Azeroth." Below: the entrance coordinates, how to get there, how big it is, and what is still encrypted (checked 4 November 2026).

Where is the Blackmaw Hold entrance?
Classic players will know the spot: the big stone furbolg gate in Azshara that never opened. Blizzard's developers said on the 8 October podcast that the dungeon sits behind that old "Timbermaw Hold" gate, and that it was renamed during development to avoid confusion with the Timbermaw faction (Bind on Forever).
Warcraft Tavern puts the tunnel opening at 38.7, 33.4 in Azshara. The portal is so deep inside that it shows on the Winterspring map, at 66.6, 84.4.
Horde: fly to Valormok (22.0, 49.7), with flights to Splintertree Post, Bloodvenom Post, Orgrimmar, the Crossroads, Thunder Bluff and Everlook (WoW Forever DB).
Alliance: fly to Talrendis Point (11.9, 77.5), in the far southwest of Azshara, with flights to Astranaar, Auberdine, Theramore, Talonbranch Glade, Ratchet and Everlook.
Either faction from Winterspring: Everlook's flight masters link to Azshara, Felwood, Moonglade and Tainted Foothills on Mount Hyjal (WoW Forever DB). If you're questing in Winterspring or Hyjal at 55–60, Everlook is a sensible base.
How big is Blackmaw Hold?
On the 8 October podcast, Blizzard's developers said its footprint is probably bigger than Blackrock Depths, with a lot of verticality. They also said it isn't designed as a megadungeon: it has a tighter level range and is meant to be cleared in one long session (summarized by Bind on Forever). Blizzard's "multiple routes" suggests you may not need to clear every wing every time. How the routes work hasn't been shown.
Enemies: corrupted furbolgs and demons, according to the developers.
Bosses: only Varrox Bleakhoof is known, named in the Legacy challenge.
Datamined items (Warcraft Tavern, unconfirmed): the Blackmaw Ritual Totem, marked as a quest item, and the Blackmaw Pouch, which looks like it gives reputation with the Blackmaw tribe. That hints at a Blackmaw reputation, but Blizzard hasn't announced one.
Blackmaw Hold quests
None published before launch. The beta was capped at level 30. The Ritual Totem item suggests at least one quest inside. Our dungeon quests guide explains why it pays to carry every quest into one run.
When to run Blackmaw Hold
Blizzard's developers said it's comfortable at 60 and can be entered a little earlier. At 55–59 it competes with Blackrock Depths (52–60), Dire Maul (54–60) and Blackrock Spire (55–60), going by the Group Finder levels Bind on Forever lists. Since it's built for one long session, plan for it when you have a few hours, not between quest hubs. Levels 55–59 cost 180,800–209,800 XP each (XP table). Alcaz Prison (48–53) is the new dungeon before it, Shaper's Terrace (58–60) the one after.
It counts toward the Master Spelunker challenge in the Legacy system.
Where RestedXP fits
A dungeon at the top of a level range only works if you get there on time. RestedXP's Forever routes cover the questing between runs, and its Dungeon Leveling Guide slots dungeons into the route. RestedXP has said its 35–60 routes come after launch, and it hasn't said when the new high-level dungeons will be added. Our discount code page has the current 10% offer.
