WoW Forever leveling zones by level, new zones and travel

WoW Forever's leveling zones include new areas alongside familiar parts of Azeroth. Plan around the quests your character can actually accept, then choose a journey that fits your level and your group. A complete-looking route from another edition can send you looking for the wrong quest or entrance.

Scope: Forever announcements and beta information first checked October 17, 2026, with a zones-by-level table added on 4 November, launch day. Announced zone ranges are planning guidance, not a tested speed route.

The announced leveling landscape

Blizzard describes a level 1–60 journey across the Eastern Kingdoms and Kalimdor, with new quests throughout. Its What's Next panel recap also states that Forever has no flying mounts and no level scaling. Your level and your ground route therefore belong in the same plan. These are the ranges and locations described in the official recap. The Forever product page lists a qualifying paid pack as a requirement for Skyborne and the Zephras Isle starting experience.

Leveling zones by level

Where to level from 17 to 25

• Alliance: finish Darkshore or Redridge, then Ashenvale, Wetlands and Duskwood around 20–21. RestedXP's update lists new Alliance quests in Duskwood (6), Wetlands (10) and Redridge (4).
• Horde: finish the Barrens and Hillsbrad Foothills, then Ashenvale and Stonetalon in the low 20s.
• Mages on either faction can use RestedXP's AoE routes to about 21; see Mage AoE leveling.

Where to level from 20 to 30

This is the bracket the beta tested most. Alliance players use Redridge, Duskwood, Wetlands, Ashenvale and Stonetalon; Horde players use Hillsbrad, Stonetalon, Ashenvale and Thousand Needles. Pick up the City of Dalaran attunement in your 20s (Southshore for Alliance, Tarren Mill for Horde) so the dungeon is open at 28.

Check the journey before changing zones

Before abandoning a questing area, answer four practical questions:

1. What will you do on arrival? Identify a quest you can accept or a friend you are meeting. A zone name alone is a poor travel plan.
2. What remains nearby? Review unfinished objectives and return trips. Decide which you want to finish before leaving.
3. Can the whole party follow? Ask each player to check their own quest progress and destination.
4. Where will the session end? Choose a sensible stopping point before setting off, especially when playing for a short evening.

New boats can change a familiar plan

Blizzard's Found Photos recap describes a Stormwind Harbor–Auberdine connection, a route involving Menethil, Southshore and Auberdine, and a Steamwheedle journey from Tanaris toward Riverglades.

Use these announced connections to investigate alternatives to a remembered journey. Check the departure point in your current client before telling a group to meet there. The recap does not establish sailing intervals or a door-to-door itinerary from every starting area.

For a group, nominate one destination and one fallback activity. That makes it easier to keep playing if someone's route or quest access differs from the plan.

Read a leveling route critically

A useful route should identify its faction, level range and Forever build or check date. Inspect a few early steps before committing to the whole itinerary. If the first quest is missing, stop and resolve the mismatch instead of skipping blindly ahead.
