WoW Forever Alliance Leveling Guide: 1–60 Route, Zones and Dungeons

This WoW Forever Alliance leveling guide gives the full 1–60 route for Humans, Dwarves, Gnomes, Night Elves and High Order Skyborne: the zones in order, where Forever's new quests, boats and dungeons fit, and where the Alliance route differs from Classic. Two changes matter most for Alliance. New ships cut the old Wetlands trek between continents, and the new Riverglades gives you a quest hub at Farholde Keep right next to Redridge.

The Alliance zone order, 1–60

This is the free Wowdee addon's published Alliance chapter list, grouped by level, with Forever's new content added. Up to 30 it was tested in the beta. Above 30 it is a plan.

* Nobody had played above level 30 before launch. Wowdee calls its levels "the guide's plan, not a promise," and its list leaves out the Riverglades and Mount Hyjal.

Levels 1–15: Alliance starting zones

RestedXP's 9 October update counted new Alliance quests in Teldrassil (11), Elwynn Forest (8), Dun Morogh (6), Stormwind (2), Westfall (2), Loch Modan (2) and Darnassus (1). A Classic Era route will miss them.

• Human: Elwynn Forest, a short Loch Modan stop on Wowdee's route, then Westfall. Human Hunters are new in Forever. Our Hunter leveling guide covers the pet and talent plan.
• Dwarf and Gnome: Dun Morogh, then Loch Modan. Dwarf Shamans and Gnome Priests are new. RestedXP's route added all the Shaman totem quests. See the Shaman and Priest guides.
• Night Elf: Teldrassil to about 13, then Darkshore. RestedXP added Loch Modan (14–16) to its Night Elf route "to bridge the XP gap in Darkshore and unlock flight paths for later." Its 3 November update reworked Night Elf and Hunter routing across Teldrassil, Darkshore, Loch Modan, Duskwood, Redridge and Ashenvale.
• High Order Skyborne: Zephras Isle (1–12, or to 14 on RestedXP's Alliance route), then out through Dalaran to Westfall. Our Skyborne leveling guide has the details.

Hall of Thanes (13–18), beneath Ironforge, is the Alliance's new home dungeon and comes right after the starting zones. The Hall of Thanes guide lists its quests.

Levels 14–30: Darkshore, Redridge, the Wetlands and Duskwood

This is where Forever's new ships make the biggest difference. Blizzard's Found Photos recap says Stormwind Harbor ↔ Auberdine "opens an early path between the Eastern Kingdoms and Kalimdor." Menethil, Southshore and Auberdine add "another route with more flexibility for leveling." The old Darkshore → Wetlands → Ironforge trek is optional now.

RestedXP's counts for this bracket: Wetlands (10), Duskwood (6), Redridge (4), Darkshore (2), Ashenvale (1) and Stonetalon (1) new quests. Its 3 November update added "Wanted: Incinerator Gar'im" and "Blackrock Blockade" to the Hunter Redridge loop.

Three Forever stops in this bracket:

1. The Cozy Sleeping Bag chain (from 14). Alliance start at the Nailed Plank on the Alexston Farmstead in Westfall (37, 50). The chain then visits the Barrens, Stonetalon, Loch Modan and Hillsbrad, according to Warcraft Tavern's walkthrough. The bag gives up to +3% XP. See our XP buffs guide.
2. Excavation Site (24–29), above Whelgar's Excavation in the Wetlands, right on your route. See the Excavation Site guide.
3. Ruins of Lordaeron (15–20). It is above the Undercity, but RestedXP lists it as mandatory in its Alliance Dungeon Guide and has added a travel video from Southshore. Our Ruins of Lordaeron guide has the Alliance route in.

Levels 29–35: Hillsbrad, Dalaran and Stranglethorn

• City of Dalaran (28–33) needs an attunement. Blizzard's dungeon overview says Alliance start with "An Alarming Request" from Emissary Jacques in Southshore. The new Menethil–Southshore ship gets you there directly. The City of Dalaran guide has the full chain.
• Stranglethorn Vale has 5 new Alliance quests in RestedXP's count. Booty Bay is your hub.

Levels 35–45: the Riverglades and Farholde Keep

The Riverglades is the biggest change to the Alliance route in the late 30s. It borders Redridge, so you can walk in from Lakeshire. Alliance quest from Farholde Keep alongside the Brotherhood of the Horse, the knightly order from Warcraft II, according to Bind on Forever's summary of Blizzard's 19 October video. The game client shows Farholde Keep's flight master linking to Lakeshire, Thelsamar and Morgan's Vigil (WoW Forever DB).

Blizzard's WoW Forever live article says the zone covers "much of the mid-30s to mid-40s" with "more than 150 new quests". It also holds Krol'dok Stronghold (40–45). Our Riverglades guide lists the areas by level.

The Drowned City (35–40) off Stranglethorn is harder to call for Alliance. Fan databases disagree on whether it has any Alliance quests. Check our Drowned City guide before you make the trip.

Levels 45–60: the long finish

Tanaris, Feralas and the Hinterlands lead into Searing Gorge, the Blasted Lands, Felwood, Azshara, Un'Goro, Winterspring and the Plaguelands. Forever adds:

• Alcaz Prison (48–53) on Alcaz Island off Dustwallow Marsh, near Theramore, so it's a convenient Alliance trip.
• Blackmaw Hold (55–60) in Azshara and Shaper's Terrace (58–60) in Un'Goro. Collect Un'Goro power crystals while you quest there.
• Mount Hyjal, the new late-50s zone.

Getting around as Alliance

• New ships: Stormwind Harbor ↔ Auberdine, plus a route linking Menethil Harbor, Southshore and Auberdine. RestedXP says it is moving its routes onto them as testing continues.
• Classic links: Menethil ↔ Theramore, Auberdine ↔ Rut'theran Village, the Deeprun Tram, and neutral Ratchet ↔ Booty Bay.
• Neutral Tanaris ↔ Riverglades ship: Steamwheedle Port to Powderfuse Port, listed in Overgear's travel guide.
• New flight path: Farholde Keep. Walk in from Redridge and pick it up first.

Alliance dungeons to plan for

RestedXP's 3 November update lists the dungeons in its Alliance Dungeon Leveling route:

Milestones on the way

• Level 25: your first Legacy Point. See the Legacy guide.
• Level 40: riding and dual specialization. Beta players reported riding costs 100 gold including your race's mount. See gold while leveling.
• Level 60: Alliance Paladins claim their epic charger "in the name of Redemption," as Blizzard puts it.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best Alliance leveling route in WoW Forever?

Start in your race's zone, then Westfall or Loch Modan (Darkshore for Night Elves) into the mid-teens. Redridge, Darkshore, Ashenvale, the Wetlands and Duskwood carry you to 30. Hillsbrad, Thousand Needles and Stranglethorn follow, then Desolace, Arathi, Dustwallow, the Badlands and the new Riverglades in the late 30s and 40s, with Tanaris, Feralas and the Hinterlands after that.

What new boats help Alliance players level in WoW Forever?

Blizzard added a Stormwind Harbor ↔ Auberdine ship and a route linking Menethil Harbor, Southshore and Auberdine. Both cut out the old Wetlands run between continents and make Hillsbrad and Darkshore much easier to reach. A neutral Tanaris ↔ Riverglades ship also links Kalimdor with the Riverglades.

Which new dungeons suit Alliance players?

Hall of Thanes (13–18) beneath Ironforge and the Excavation Site (24–29) in the Wetlands are on Alliance ground. Why does RestedXP send Night Elves to Loch Modan?

RestedXP's 9 October update added Loch Modan (levels 14–16) to the Night Elf route to bridge an XP gap in Darkshore and to unlock flight paths for later. The new Stormwind–Auberdine boat makes the trip much shorter than in Classic.
