WoW Forever dungeon quests still pay well, but only if you bring the whole set into one run. Blizzard halved the extra XP that dungeon quests pay on 1 October and raised dungeon kill XP by about 20% on 8 October. Its advice is to do every dungeon's quests once rather than run one dungeon over and over. Below are the quests for each dungeon up to Razorfen Kraul, by faction, with who gives them and where. The lists come from Bind on Forever's dungeon pages, read from the game files, and were checked on 4 November 2026. After that: which runs are worth the trip, and what we don't know yet about the new dungeons above 35.

Deciding whether to queue at all? Start with dungeons vs questing. For how much XP a level costs, see the XP table.

Why dungeon quests still matter in Forever

  • The cut hit the bonus, not the quest. The 1 October notes say: "Dungeon quests now reward 50% less extra experience beyond normal quest values." Blizzard's note gives the reason as "feedback on leveling speed". Bind on Forever cites a DualShockers report that Shadowfang Keep's quests fell from 32,200 to 19,800 XP, about 38%. That is still a large chunk of a level in the 20s.
  • Kills inside pay more now. The 8 October notes raised XP from creatures killed in dungeons by about 20%, in response to feedback on dungeon leveling after the 1 October cut (Wowhead's podcast summary).
  • Group with players near your level. The same notes made kill XP depend on your own level again, not the highest-level member's. A much higher-level friend still means little or no XP for you.
  • Rewards are weaker, the XP isn't. Also on 8 October, "various dungeon quest rewards have had their rarity lowered to Uncommon from Rare". Do the quests for the XP and treat the gear as a bonus.

Dungeon quests by dungeon and faction

Level ranges are the in-game Group Finder's, as listed by Bind on Forever. Counts cover the quests the free BoF routes visit to level 30, so a dungeon can have a few more.

Ragefire Chasm (Horde, 13–18)

Searching for the Lost Satchel and Testing an Enemy's Strength (Rahauro, Thunder Bluff), The Power to Destroy... (Varimathras, Undercity), Hidden Enemies (Thrall, Orgrimmar) and one more. The 2 November notes fixed Hidden Enemies leaving the Lieutenant's Insignia in your bags.

Hall of Thanes (Alliance, 13–20)

A Visitor to Dun Morogh (Beldin Steelgrill), Farsen's Watch and Nip 'Em in the Bud (Earthseer Farsen), the Underground Map item quest and three more. Our Hall of Thanes guide covers the run.

Ruins of Lordaeron (Horde, 15–22)

A Frightened Request (Tabitha Heartweaver), The Wrath of Rath'mael (Deathguard Kristof), Light's Justice (Morbin Lightbane) and The New Plague (Theodore Griffs). Since the 2 November notes, all of them need level 15 to start.

Wailing Caverns (both, 15–24)

Alliance: Deviate Hides (Nalpak), Raptor Horns and Smart Drinks (Mebok Mizzyrix), Trouble at the Docks (Crane Operator Bigglefuzz) and one more. Horde: 12 quests, led by Tonga Runetotem's The Forgotten Pools, The Stagnant Oasis and Altered Beings. Horde players get more value here than anywhere else below 30.

Deadmines (Alliance, 17–26)

The biggest set below 30: 14 quests. Collecting Memories and Oh Brother... (Wilder Thistlenettle), Underground Assault (Shoni the Shilent), Destruction in Deadmines (Alba Fairmoon) and ten more from Stormwind, Westfall, Redridge and Dun Morogh. The 2 November notes fixed Alba Fairmoon disappearing before you could turn in Destruction in Deadmines.

Shadowfang Keep (both, 20–30)

Horde: The Book of Ur (Keeper Bel'dugur), Arugal Must Die (Dalar Dawnweaver), Deathstalkers in Shadowfang (High Executor Hadrec) and The Orb of Soran'ruk (Doan Karhan). Alliance: six quests, among them the Paladin chain The Tome of Valor and The Test of Righteousness (Duthorian Rall).

Alliance: Songblade Search (Dorin Songblade), Tramping Paws, Fire Taboo and Blisters on the Land (Rethiel the Greenwarden) and four more. Horde: Dragonmaw Rumors (Zaruk), Changing Tastes (Borstan) and Open the Maw (a Deathstalker Agent).

Horde: The Grave Knight (Melisara), Source of Power (Doctor Martin Felben), Prison Break In and Key to the City (Magus Wordeen Voidglare) and two more. Since the 15 October notes, Dalaran's guards attack the Horde on sight. The Horde sewer-key questline still opens the dungeon, but it no longer gives free access to the city itself.

Gnomeregan and Razorfen Kraul (both, 29–38)

Gnomeregan, Alliance: Save Techbot's Brain! (Tinkmaster Overspark), Essential Artificials (Klockmort Spannerspan), The Grand Betrayal (High Tinker Mekkatorque), Data Rescue (Master Mechanic Castpipe) and three more. Horde: A Vengeful Fate (Auld Stonespire), Going, Going, Guano! (Master Apothecary Faranell), Blueleaf Tubers, Elemental Aid (Prate Cloudseer) and two more.

Which dungeon quest runs are worth it

  • Alliance: Deadmines (14 quests), then Stockade and Excavation Site (8 each), then Hall of Thanes, Gnomeregan and Razorfen Kraul (7 each). The Deadmines run is the one to plan around: its quests start in Stormwind, Westfall, Redridge and Dun Morogh, so collect them over several sessions.
  • Horde: Wailing Caverns (12) by a long way, then City of Dalaran, Blackfathom Deeps and Razorfen Kraul (6 each), then Ragefire Chasm (5).
  • Skip or keep it short when only one or two quests are open for your faction. Horde players have three quests each for Excavation Site and Gnomeregan. Do those if a group is ready. Don't spend an hour waiting for one.
  • Pick up quests yourself. During the beta Blizzard fixed "several dungeon quests" that could be shared, because sharing handed out the quest item (development notes). Expect each player to need the quest giver.
  • Run each dungeon once. Blizzard told players that running the same dungeon over and over "is not the most efficient thing to do" (as quoted by Bind on Forever). The quests are what make a dungeon worth the trip, and they pay out only once.

What we don't know yet: dungeon quests above level 35

Blizzard has announced five new dungeons above 35: Drowned City (35–40), Krol'dok Stronghold (40–45), Alcaz Prison (48–53), Blackmaw Hold (55–60) and Shaper's Terrace (58–60) (Blizzard's dungeon overview). The public beta was capped at level 30, so nobody has seen their quests. For the Classic dungeons from Scarlet Monastery onward (see our Scarlet Monastery guide for its wing levels and eight quests), Blizzard has been adjusting quest XP and prerequisites right up to the 2 November notes, so check quest levels in game rather than trusting an old Classic list. We'll add each dungeon here once players reach it on live servers.

Let a route collect the quests

The tricky part is not the dungeon. It's remembering to pick up 14 quests across four zones before you queue. The RestedXP Dungeon Leveling Guide grabs dungeon quests along the questing route, and our discount code page has the current 10% offer.

Frequently asked questions

Are dungeon quests worth it in WoW Forever?

Yes, once per dungeon. Blizzard wants every dungeon's quests done at least once, and the October 1 build only halved the extra XP dungeon quests pay on top of normal quest XP. Pick up every quest for a dungeon before you go in, clear it once and move on; running the same dungeon again and again is not the efficient path, by Blizzard's own account.

How much XP did Blizzard cut from dungeon quests?

The October 1 notes say dungeon quests reward 50% less extra experience beyond normal quest values. The normal quest XP stayed, so whole chains fell by less than half: a DualShockers report cited by Bind on Forever puts Shadowfang Keep's quests at 19,800 XP, down from 32,200.

Which dungeon has the most quests in WoW Forever?

Among the dungeons up to level 30, the Deadmines has the most for the Alliance: 14 quests from Stormwind City, Westfall, Redridge Mountains and Dun Morogh. For the Horde, Wailing Caverns has 12, from the Barrens and Thunder Bluff. Counts are from Bind on Forever's read of the game files.

Can you share dungeon quests in WoW Forever?

Don't count on it. Blizzard fixed several dungeon quests that could be shared during the beta, because sharing handed the other player a quest item. Each player should pick up the quests from the quest giver.

What level do Ruins of Lordaeron quests start?

Level 15. Blizzard's November 2 notes say the Ruins of Lordaeron dungeon quests now consistently require level 15 to start (it was a mix of 15 and 16), and some prerequisites were adjusted.

What are the quests for the new Forever dungeons above level 35?

Not known yet. Blizzard has announced Drowned City, Krol'dok Stronghold, Alcaz Prison, Blackmaw Hold and Shaper's Terrace, but the beta stopped at level 30 and their quests have not been published. We'll add them once players reach them on live servers.
