WoW Forever XP Table: Experience Needed for Every Level 1–60
The full WoW Forever XP table: XP to the next level and total XP for levels 1–60 (4,084,700 to 60), checked against the game files and Blizzard's notes.
EnlargeThe WoW Forever XP table is the same as Classic's: 4,084,700 XP from level 1 to 60. Each level costs more than the one before it. Level 1 needs 400 XP, level 59 needs 209,800. Below you'll find XP to the next level and total XP for all 60 levels. The values come from Bind on Forever's read of the game files, and we checked every one against Warcraft Tavern's table on 4 November 2026. After the table we explain what the curve means for planning, and what Blizzard actually changed about XP in Forever.
Need hours instead of XP? Our leveling time guide covers that, and the fastest way to level turns the curve into a plan.
WoW Forever XP per level, 1 to 60
"XP to next level" is what fills the bar at that level. "Total XP" is everything earned from level 1 until you ding that level. "Share of 1–60" is how far along the road to 60 that total puts you.

| 60 | — (level cap) | 4,084,700 | 100% |
Two numbers stand out. Level 59 to 60 costs 209,800 XP, more than levels 1 to 20 together (167,200). You also don't pass the halfway point until level 48: reaching 48 takes 2,029,800 XP, and half the road is 2,042,350.
What the XP curve means for your leveling
| Bracket | XP needed | Share of 1–60 |
|---|---|---|
| 1–10 | 27,600 | 0.7% |
| 10–20 | 139,600 | 3.4% |
| 20–30 | 331,800 | 8.1% |
| 30–40 | 655,400 | 16.0% |
| 40–50 | 1,151,700 | 28.2% |
| 50–60 | 1,778,600 | 43.5% |
The first 20 levels are a small part of the climb. Blizzard's own data puts levels 1–20 at 20.5 hours on average in Forever, against 20.4 hours in Classic Era (Icy Veins on Blizzard's 24 September figures). That is only about 4% of the XP to 60. Work it out and it comes to roughly 8,000 XP an hour. Nobody levels at that rate at 50, since mobs and quests pay more there too, but it shows why the early hours tell you little about the full climb.
Levels 40–60 are 72% of the XP. Time saved there counts most: a tight quest order, rested XP from logging out in an inn, and dungeons run once with every quest for them in your bag. The XP buffs guide covers the bonuses that help the most at that stage.
The public beta was capped at level 30. That is only 12% of the road. Nobody tested Forever's 30–60 game before launch, so treat any claim about "the fastest route to 60" with care until players have done it on live servers.
Has Blizzard changed the XP needed per level?
No. Early in the beta a report said Forever cut the experience needed per level, and Wowhead retracted it. Both tables we checked use the Classic values, from 400 XP at level 1 to 209,800 at level 59.
What Blizzard did change during the beta is where the XP comes from:
- Dungeon quests pay less. The 1 October development notes say: "Dungeon quests now reward 50% less extra experience beyond normal quest values." Only the bonus on top of normal quest XP was halved. Bind on Forever cites a DualShockers report that Shadowfang Keep's quests fell from 32,200 to 19,800 XP in total, about 38% less.
- Dungeon kills pay more. The 8 October notes raised "the experience earned from killing creatures in dungeons" by about 20%.
- Party XP works like Classic again. The same notes fixed a rule that cut every party member's kill XP based on the highest-level player in the group. Now each player's XP depends only on their own level, as in Classic Era.
- Quest values were retuned. The 2 November notes say Blizzard "adjusted experience values on various quests" and fixed quests that paid none, such as "Holy Diver" in Darkshore.
None of this changes the table. It changes how fast each source fills the bar, which is why our dungeons vs questing guide and dungeon quests guide exist.
How to use the XP table while leveling
- Check your rate. Hover over the XP bar, note your XP, then check again after an hour. Divide what's left on the bar by that rate and you have the time to your next level. Do it per bracket, because your rate rises as you level.
- Plan logouts. Rested XP doubles kill XP until it runs out, so logging out in an inn before a long break saves more time in the 50s, where a level is worth more than 147,000 XP.
- Mind the halfway myth. "Level 40 is halfway" is wrong for Forever as it was for Classic. At 40 you have 28% of the XP to 60.
Where RestedXP fits
The table tells you how far you have to go. A route decides how quickly you get there. RestedXP's Forever Speedrun routes cover levels 1–35 now, with 35–60 coming after launch. Our RestedXP review explains what you get, and the discount code page shows the current 10% offer.
Frequently asked questions
How much XP do you need to reach level 60 in WoW Forever?
4,084,700 XP in total from level 1 to 60, the same as Classic. Bind on Forever read the per-level values from the game files and they match Warcraft Tavern's table level for level. Level 59 to 60 alone costs 209,800 XP.
Did Blizzard reduce the XP needed per level in WoW Forever?
No. An early report said the requirements were cut, but Wowhead retracted it. The curve is Classic's. What Blizzard changed during the beta is where XP comes from: dungeon quests pay less extra XP since October 1, and dungeon kills about 20% more since October 8.
At what level are you halfway to 60 in WoW Forever?
During level 48. Reaching 48 takes 2,029,800 XP and half of the total is 2,042,350, so you cross the halfway mark early in level 48. Levels 50 to 60 are about 44% of all the XP you need.
How much XP is level 59 to 60 in WoW Forever?
209,800 XP, the largest single level. That is more than the 167,200 XP for levels 1 to 20 combined.
How much XP do you need for level 40 in WoW Forever?
1,154,400 XP in total, about 28% of the road to 60. Level 30 takes 499,000 XP, level 20 takes 167,200 and level 10 takes 27,600.
Does rested XP make levels cost less?
No. Rested XP doubles the XP you get from kills until the rested pool runs out, so you fill the same bar faster. It doesn't change quest XP or the XP a level requires. Our XP buffs guide lists every bonus.
