The Riverglades is WoW Forever's new level 35–45 zone: a river frontier in the Eastern Kingdoms, open to both factions, that fills the gap in the late 30s where Classic players used to run out of quests. Blizzard's launch announcement describes "a rugged frontier of rivers, grasslands, trade routes, struggling communities, and old grudges, with more than 150 new quests across much of the mid-30s to mid-40s experience." Its dungeon is Krol'dok Stronghold (40–45).

This page covers what the Riverglades is, where it is, how each faction gets there, the area levels in the game client, the flight paths, and where it fits in a 1–60 route.

What the Riverglades is

Blizzard's Found Photos panel recap calls the Riverglades its first major example of "new, but familiar" content. It is a mid-level zone "built from a previously inaccessible part of the Classic world," connected to the Burning Steppes, Redridge, the Swamp of Sorrows and the Badlands, "but previously beyond players' reach."

The same recap names the groups you will meet:

  • Gnoll camps that continue the conflicts of neighboring Redridge.
  • Ogres, including the outrunners behind Krol'dok Stronghold.
  • The Powderfuse goblins, who run the new port.
  • The Twilight's Hammer.
  • The Brotherhood of the Horse, the knightly order from Warcraft II lore.

Bind on Forever's coverage of Blizzard's 19 October zone video and the WoW Forever DB zone page put the Alliance alongside the Brotherhood of the Horse at Farholde Keep. The Horde works beside the Bolder'ok ogres at Rog'mar, and both factions fight the Twilight's Hammer. WoW Forever DB also lists an arena called the Bloodmasters' Ring. Treat those faction details as reported until the zone has been played.

Where is the Riverglades?

The Riverglades sits in the south-east of the Eastern Kingdoms, in the stretch of land that Classic's map showed but never opened. Fan databases that read the game client, such as Forever Helper, place it in south-eastern Khaz Modan, east of the Badlands and the Burning Steppes. You can walk in from the four neighboring zones Blizzard lists. WoW Forever DB says Blizzard places it after Redridge on the leveling path.

How to get to the Riverglades

By boat from Tanaris (both factions)

The new neutral ship runs between Steamwheedle Port in Tanaris and Powderfuse Port in the Riverglades. Blizzard describes it as the final new sea route, beginning "with the Steamwheedle Cartel in Tanaris." Overgear's travel guide lists it with the other new routes: Stormwind Harbor ↔ Auberdine, and Menethil Harbor → Southshore → Auberdine. Use it if you are finishing Tanaris or Thousand Needles in Kalimdor and want to cross straight to the Eastern Kingdoms.

On foot

  • Alliance: from Lakeshire in Redridge, the most natural way in for Alliance characters already questing in the Eastern Kingdoms.
  • Horde: from Kargath in the Badlands or Stonard in the Swamp of Sorrows.
  • Either faction: from the Burning Steppes, though at 35 its monsters are well above your level.

Flight paths

The game client lists these flight masters, according to WoW Forever DB's map page:

Flight masterFactionMap positionDirect flights
Farholde KeepAlliance60.6, 81.6Lakeshire (Redridge), Thelsamar (Loch Modan), Morgan's Vigil (Burning Steppes)
Rog'marHorde59.6, 45.1Kargath (Badlands), Stonard (Swamp of Sorrows), Hammerfall (Arathi), Flame Crest (Burning Steppes)
Powderfuse PortBothPortReported as having few or no direct links at first

You have to discover each flight master on foot before you can fly there. On your first trip, walk in and pick up the flight path at the faction town first.

Riverglades areas by level

The pre-launch client lists a level for 19 areas. WoW Forever DB publishes them. They run from 36 at the entry areas to 44 around the Twilight's Hammer areas:

LevelAreas
36Meadowsbrook, Southern Watch, Wheeler's Grange
37Bristle Hills
38Ashwood's Fall, Elbrim's Farm, Farholde Keep, Powderfuse Port, Rog'mar, Sunnyglade, Terral's Watch, Turner's Logging Camp
40Eastwind Shore
41Twilight Hollow, Windstead
42Bolder'ok, Krol'dok Stronghold
44Forlorn Pit, Twilight's Shroud

The same source says most enemies are level 36–55, so some elites and named mobs are well above the area levels. Fan coverage of the zone reveal reports a Group Finder range of 33–54, wider still. A safe plan is to arrive around 35–36, do the 36–38 hubs first and leave the Twilight areas for 41+.

Krol'dok Stronghold, the Riverglades dungeon

Blizzard's dungeon overview sets Krol'dok Stronghold at levels 40–45: "Ogre outrunners have been kidnapping travelers and ransacking communities throughout the Riverglades. Follow their trail to Krol'dok Stronghold, a sprawling fortress filled with workshops, encampments, and guarded interior passages." It also mentions "strange chanting heard from the stronghold after nightfall." Wowhead's dungeon overview lists a wider 40–55 range. Expect to pick up its quests in the zone during the late-30s hubs, so hold them until you're 41–42 and have a group.

The dungeon before it in level order is The Drowned City (35–40) off Stranglethorn's coast. The full list is in our WoW Forever dungeons guide.

Where the Riverglades fits in a 1–60 route

Most Classic routes spend the late 30s in Stranglethorn Vale, Arathi, Desolace and Dustwallow, then the 40s in the Badlands, Tanaris, Feralas and the Hinterlands. The Riverglades adds roughly a zone's worth of quests in the middle of that stretch, for both factions. Our WoW Forever leveling guide shows how it fits into each bracket, and WoW Forever leveling zones by level gives the classic zone ranges it sits beside.

  • Before the Riverglades: Stranglethorn Vale and its new dungeon, The Drowned City, cover 35–40. Alliance players coming from Duskwood and Redridge can walk straight in.
  • After the Riverglades: WoW Forever DB lists Tanaris (40–50), the Hinterlands (41–49), Feralas (41–60) and Azshara (42–55) as the next zones. The Powderfuse–Steamwheedle boat makes Tanaris the easiest hand-off.
  • Level 40 mount: Beta players reported riding at 40 costs 100 gold including the mount, so you will likely reach the zone's later hubs on your first mount.

Because the zone is new, every route above level 35 is a plan rather than a tested path. RestedXP has said its Forever routes for 35–60 release after launch. Until then, the RestedXP Forever guide covers 1–35.
