Best Leveling Route in WoW Forever: How to Choose (RXP, Free, DIY)

The best leveling route in WoW Forever is the ordered path you will actually finish—not a screenshot of someone else's /played. Blizzard does not publish an official 1–60 chapter list. What exists are addon routes, free community chapter lists and DIY questing with map helpers. This page helps you choose among them, then points to faction and 1–35 detail pages.

Three ways to run a Forever route

Approach	Best for	Cost (checked 5 Nov 2026)	Weak spot
RestedXP Forever Speedrun	Players who want an arrow and tested Forever quest order	Free 1–20; paid guide $27 one faction / $40.50 both with our 10%	Forever 35–60 still shipping after launch
Free chapter list (e.g. Wowdee)	Players who want a published plan without paying past 20	Free addon / chapters	Less Forever-specific tooling; levels above beta labelled as plans
DIY + Questie	Players who enjoy planning and exploring	Free	You spend time deciding the next hub

Decision tree

1. Will you follow steps for more than a few hours? If yes, use an ordered route (RestedXP or free chapters). DIY works; it is slower for most people.
2. Do you want dungeons built into the path? Prefer RestedXP's Speedrun plus its Dungeon Leveling Guide (restructured 3 November 2026).
3. Are you Alliance or Horde? Start from the faction guide, not a generic Classic memory: Alliance, Horde.
4. Are you stopping around the mid-30s for now? Read the 1–35 leveling route so you don't plan on unshipped Forever 35–60 chapters.

What a “good” Forever route must include

• New race exits for Skyborne (Zephras Isle → mainland).
• New early dungeons near capitals (Hall of Thanes, Ruins of Lordaeron) when the route calls for them.
• Forever quest density in Redridge, Duskwood, Wetlands, Barrens and Hillsbrad—RestedXP's October notes counted dozens of new faction quests.
• Mid-game hooks toward Riverglades once you leave the 20s (Riverglades guide).
• Honest gaps above the beta cap (30) and above RestedXP's live Forever band (35).

A route that only reprints Classic Era chapters will strand you when Forever quests, travel and dungeons differ.

Speedrun route vs “survival” mindset

RestedXP products for other versions of WoW separate Speedrun and Survival styles. For Forever, the live paid focus we track is Speedrun + Dungeon Leveling. That means:

• Skip low-value detours the route already cut.
• Hold rested XP for kill-heavy stretches (rested XP guide).
• Add dungeons when you have their quests—not as endless spam.

If you prefer a slower, safer tour, follow the same zone order but skip elite steps and dungeon chains. Our speed leveling guide covers the playbook; leveling tips covers common mistakes.

Faction asymmetry (why mirrors fail)

Topic	Alliance lean	Horde lean
Early dungeon near capital	Hall of Thanes (Ironforge)	Ruins of Lordaeron (Undercity)
Teen hubs	Westfall, Loch Modan, Darkshore, Redridge	Barrens, Silverpine, Hillsbrad
Dalaran attunement start	Southshore (Emissary Jacques)	Tarren Mill (Magus Wordeen Voidglare)
Riverglades foothold	(see Riverglades guide)	Rog'mar with Bolder'ok

Zones-by-level tables: forever leveling zones.

DIY checklist (if you skip paid routes)

• Cap your quest log before you travel continents (Forever's log limit is part of why routes were reworked).
• Unlock flight paths the first time you pass them.
• Log out in an inn every session.
• Keep crafted food for kill XP (XP buffs).
• Run each dungeon once with quests, then leave.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best leveling route in WoW Forever?

There is no official Blizzard route. Choose an ordered path you will follow: RestedXP Speedrun for arrow-guided 1–35, free Wowdee chapters, or DIY Questie.

Is RestedXP the best leveling route addon?

For ordered Forever routes with an arrow, it is the most complete option we track as of 5 November 2026. Zygor also ships Forever guides—compare before you buy.

Should Alliance and Horde use different routes?

Yes. Starting zones, early hubs and several new dungeons differ by faction.

Can I mix dungeon leveling into a quest route?

Yes, with the dungeon's quests and near its level range. Watch the October XP changes.

When will Forever routes cover 35–60?

RestedXP says after launch. Do not treat Era chapters as Forever-accurate until Forever versions ship.
