Is RestedXP Free for WoW Forever? What's Free and What You Pay For

Partly. The RestedXP addon is free, and so are its WoW Forever starter routes for levels 1–20; the full Forever leveling guide is paid. RestedXP itself says "levels 1 to 20 are free for everyone". After that you need the Forever Leveling Guide: $30 for Alliance or Horde, or $45 for both factions, as a one-time payment with future Forever updates included. Through our link Affiliate link the cart takes 10% off automatically ($27 or $40.50).

How we checked: on 2 November 2026 we read RestedXP's terms, its Forever shop page and help center, RestedXP's own partner updates of 19 September, 9 October and 17 October 2026, and the Forever guide list inside the addon's public source (v4.11.30, 3 November 2026, rechecked 4 November: the Forever guide list is identical to v4.11.29).

What is free in RestedXP for WoW Forever

RestedXP separates the addon from the guide content. The addon is the program that shows the step window, the arrow and the automation. It is free on CurseForge and its code is public on GitHub. RestedXP's terms also define "Free Guide Content": routes it distributes with the addon at no charge.

For WoW Forever, the free guide content in addon v4.11.30 (released 3 November 2026; the Forever guide list is identical to v4.11.29) is:

• Every starting zone, including Skyborne. Night Elf, Human, Dwarf/Gnome, Durotar, Undead, Mulgore and the Skyborne start on Zephras Isle.
• Speedrun Guide starter chapters. Alliance continues to an 11–20 section that ends with 20–21 Darkshore/Ashenvale; Horde continues through the Barrens to level 22.
• Dungeon Guide starter chapters. The same level range with the dungeons folded in: Hall of Thanes, Ruins of Lordaeron and the Deadmines for Alliance; Ragefire Chasm, Ruins of Lordaeron and Wailing Caverns for Horde.
• Mage AoE starter routes for both factions, up to about level 21–22.

The addon's free features (the arrow, auto accept and turn-in, the step window and the level tracker) work with the free routes. You don't need an account or a payment to use them.

RestedXP's own wording is simpler: in its partner updates of 19 September, 9 October and 17 October 2026 it told affiliates that "levels 1 to 20 are free for everyone" (those updates are not public; the GitHub guide list in our sources shows the same free chapters). The chapters in the addon run a level or two past that, depending on faction, because they stop at the end of a zone rather than at an exact level.

What you pay for

The paid product is the Forever Leveling Guide. On RestedXP's Forever page Affiliate link and in its updates, it includes:

• Speedrun Guide: finished Forever routes for 1–35. Forever routes for 35–60 come after the 4 November launch, and RestedXP's existing Era routes cover 35–60 until then.
• Dungeon Leveling Guide: live since 17 October 2026 for both factions, and restructured on 3 November into mandatory, optional and upcoming dungeons. See our RestedXP Dungeon Guide page for the dungeons in each route.
• Planned after launch: a Discovery feature and a Legacy Guide for Legacy achievements.
• Updates included. RestedXP's help center says route updates are "100% free of charge"; you don't buy again at launch or when 35–60 arrives. The 3 November update is an example: owners re-import the new guide string at no cost.
• Guides in your language: RestedXP announced on 3 November that its Forever guides can now be downloaded in German, French, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese and Simplified Chinese as well as English; the v4.11.30 release notes list translations for those five languages. RestedXP's video shows how to download a guide in your language.

Is there a free trial of the paid guide?

Not as such. The free starter routes are the trial: they use the same addon, the same arrow and the same writing style as the paid guide, so a few hours on the free chapters tells you whether you like the format.

What there is not is a refund-if-you-don't-like-it option. RestedXP's terms say it "generally" does not refund digital orders. It may consider a request within 30 days if you have not downloaded the product and your account is active, at its sole discretion. So try the free routes first and buy only when you know you want the rest.

"RestedXP is free to level 30": where that comes from

You will see the claim on forums and in comment sections that RestedXP is free to level 30. We could not find it in any RestedXP source. RestedXP's statements say 1–20, and the chapters bundled with the addon end at 20–21 (Alliance) and 22 (Horde).

The 30 probably comes from other numbers that float around: the Forever beta was capped at level 30, the Dungeon Guide's first release covered 1–30, and some free addons publish routes to 30. None of those make RestedXP's paid routes free.

What about cracked or "free full" RestedXP?

Don't. Copies of the paid guide shared on file hosts, Discord servers or "free download" sites are unauthorized: RestedXP's terms say no licence is granted to anyone holding paid content from anywhere other than an authorized purchase, and that sharing it can end your licence. RestedXP also binds paid guides to the buyer's account and Battle.net ID.

There are practical risks too:

• Malware. Addon folders run code inside your game client. A modified addon from an unofficial source can contain anything, including code that tries to steal your Battle.net login.
• Account safety. Anything that asks for your Battle.net details, or tells you to run a separate program to "unlock" guides, is a red flag.

Download the addon only from CurseForge or RestedXP's GitHub. If you don't want to pay, there are good free routes, listed below.

Free alternatives if you don't want to pay

If 1–20 is not enough and you don't want a paid guide, several free addons publish WoW Forever routes. They differ a lot in coverage and polish:

• Guidelime with the TUGs guide: a long-running free route pack; its Forever version has all starting zones and routes written to 30.
• BoostedXP: a new free Forever addon with routes checked to 30 and drafts beyond.
• PexGuide: free 1–20 Forever routes, with 20–30 announced; it needs Questie.
• Wowdee and 4Ever Leveling: free all-in-one addons that list routes all the way to 60.
• Questie: not a route, but free quest markers on your map.

Our best leveling addon for WoW Forever compares all of them, with what each developer says on its own page. If you are choosing between a free addon and RestedXP specifically, our RestedXP vs Questie comparison explains how the two differ, and the RestedXP vs Zygor page covers the other paid option.

How to use the free routes

1. Install RestedXP Guide from CurseForge and pick the file for WoW Forever.
2. Log in. The guide window opens with a Forever chapter for your race; if it doesn't, right-click the window title or the minimap button and pick the chapter.
3. Follow the steps and the arrow. No account or import is needed for the free routes.
4. When the chapters run out around level 20, either buy the full guide and import it, or switch to a free route.

Our RestedXP install and import guide covers each step, the /rxp commands and the settings worth changing. If something misbehaves, see RestedXP not working.

Frequently asked questions

Is RestedXP free for WoW Forever?

The addon is free, and so are its Forever starter routes for levels 1–20. The full Forever Leveling Guide is paid: $30 per faction or $45 for both, one-time, or $27 and $40.50 through our link.

Is RestedXP free up to level 30?

No. RestedXP says levels 1 to 20 are free, and the free chapters in addon v4.11.30 end at 20–21 for Alliance and 22 for Horde. We found no RestedXP source for a free route to 30.

Is the RestedXP Dungeon Guide free?

Its opening chapters are bundled with the addon, up to about level 20–22. The full Dungeon Leveling Guide (restructured on 3 November, with dungeons through Blackrock Depths and more after launch) is part of the paid Forever guide, at no extra cost on top of it.

Is RestedXP a subscription?

Not for WoW Forever. The Forever Leveling Guide is a one-time purchase, and RestedXP says route updates are free of charge, including the Forever 35–60 routes after launch.

Can I get a refund if I don't like it?

Only in limited cases. RestedXP's terms say it generally does not refund digital orders; it may consider a request within 30 days if you have not downloaded the guide, at its discretion. Try the free routes before buying.

Is there a free trial of RestedXP?

The free 1–20 routes act as the trial. They run in the same addon with the same arrow and step style as the paid guide.

Is a cracked RestedXP safe to use?

No. Unauthorized copies carry no licence under RestedXP's terms, sharing paid content can end the buyer's licence, and addon files from unofficial sources can carry malware. Use the free routes or a free addon instead.
