Fury vs Arms Warrior in WoW Forever: Which to Level With
Fury or Arms in WoW Forever? Every Fury and Arms talent change from Blizzard's beta notes up to November 2, and which spec levels a Warrior faster.
EnlargeFury vs Arms in WoW Forever is a closer call than it was in Classic. Blizzard rebuilt both trees: Bloodthirst no longer heals, Whirlwind hits with both weapons for free, Flurry costs three points, and Arms gained Weaponmaster and Bloodthrill. Short answer for leveling: Arms with a two-hander is the easier solo spec, Fury is good once you own two decent weapons, and Protection from level 16 is still what our Warrior leveling guide recommends for the least downtime. Below is every Fury and Arms change from Blizzard's notes up to 2 November 2026, and how each one plays while leveling.
Fury or Arms: the quick comparison
| Arms | Fury | |
|---|---|---|
| Weapons | One two-hander | Two one-handers |
| Gear needs | One good weapon | Two weapons plus off-hand hit |
| Key talents | Weaponmaster, Bloodthrill, Improved Slam, Spearing Strike | Furious Precision, Flurry, Gore Drinker, Bloodthirst, Improved Whirlwind |
| Self-healing | Victory Rush only | Victory Rush plus Gore Drinker |
| Best for | Early levels, quest-reward weapons | Later levels, cleave pulls in dungeons |
Every Warrior gets the same base changes. Critical strikes generate 100% more Rage than normal hits (1 October notes), Rage from taking damage ignores your armor, and Victory Rush at level 20 heals 10% of your health after each kill (class deep dive). Those help both trees equally.
Fury in WoW Forever: what changed
Blizzard's 1 October notes say the goal was "to give Fury more access to utility and meaningful choices early in the tree for leveling". The main changes since the deep dive:
- Whirlwind always hits with both weapons, no talent needed. Raging Blows now cuts the Rage cost of Cleave and Whirlwind by 3.
- Dual Wield Specialization no longer adds hit or Rage. Off-hand hit now comes from Furious Precision (row 3): 4/7/10% chance to hit with off-hand attacks.
- Bloodthirst no longer heals. It gives 10% movement speed for 10 seconds, and its attack power ratio rose to 45% on 1 October. Since the 2 November notes it requires Death Wish.
- Flurry is now 3 points for 10/20/30% attack speed over three swings after a crit, and no longer needs Death Wish (2 November).
- Gore Drinker (row 5, linked to Blood Craze since 2 November): Enrage, Berserker Rage, Bloodrage, Death Wish and Bloodthirst make your next 3 melee attacks restore 0.5/1% of your maximum health.
- Reckless Swings (new, row 4): costs 25% of base health, and your next 4 melee attacks generate 5 extra Rage.
- Improved Whirlwind (new, row 6): up to 2 seconds off Whirlwind's cooldown and 30% more damage to the closest enemy.
- Lingering Rage (row 2) delays Rage decay after combat by up to 10 seconds. Since the 15 October notes it no longer stops health regeneration.
- Booming Voice widens your shouts and cuts their Rage cost, plus Piercing Howl's since 2 November. Enrage moved to row 3. Improved Cleave and Boundless Rage were removed on 1 October.
What it means for leveling: Fury's old problem was off-hand misses and no healing between pulls. Furious Precision fixes the first, and Gore Drinker plus Victory Rush soften the second. Death Wish still raises the damage you take while it's active, so don't pop it on a pull you might lose.
Arms in WoW Forever: what changed
- Weaponmaster replaces the old weapon specializations: axes and polearms add crit, maces and staves ignore armor, swords can grant an extra swing (deep dive). Any quest-reward two-hander benefits.
- Bloodthrill is 2 points since 2 November: main-hand hits on targets with your Rend have a 10/20% chance to enable Overpower. Rend also scales strongly with attack power.
- Two-Handed Weapon Specialization now gives 2/4/6% damage (2 November).
- Slam's cooldown is 15 seconds, and Improved Slam (2 points) cuts it by 2.5/5 seconds. Slam no longer delays your auto attack.
- Improved Tactical Mastery is 3 points for 5/10/15 extra Rage kept when you change stances, on top of the 10 from baseline Tactical Mastery at level 14.
- Spearing Strike (16-point milestone) no longer needs a two-hander but needs Battle Stance (1 October). Damage doubles against mounted targets, dragons and giants.
- Deep Wounds is a rolling bleed that doesn't scale with attack power, and is once again required to reach Impale (8 October).
What it means for leveling: Arms needs one good weapon and gets more out of every quest reward. Rend into Overpower procs is a steady rotation with little gear dependence. Its weak spot is the same as in Classic: no healing besides Victory Rush, so you eat or bandage more.
Which one should you level with?
- Levels 10–20: Arms. You have one weapon and few talent points. Rend, Overpower and Victory Rush (at 20) carry you.
- From 16: consider Protection. Shield Block with Shield Specialization makes Revenge your main attack, and our Protection Warrior guide covers it.
- Fury when your gear allows it. Two weapons of similar speed and quality, Furious Precision, then Flurry and Gore Drinker. Whirlwind on two or three mobs is where Fury beats Arms.
- From 40: use Dual Specialization. Keep a damage build for questing and Protection for dungeons. Our talents and dual spec guide explains how it works.
Blizzard hasn't published damage numbers, and the public beta was capped at level 30, so nobody has measured Fury against Arms at 60 on live servers. Treat this as a gear-based choice, not a fixed ranking.
Common mistakes
- Going Fury with one good weapon and a bad off-hand. The off-hand drags your hit and Rage down. Stay Arms until both weapons are decent.
- Skipping Furious Precision. Dual Wield Specialization no longer covers off-hand hit.
- Looking for Bloodthirst healing. It's gone. Your healing comes from Gore Drinker and Victory Rush.
- Following a Classic talent order. Flurry, Bloodthirst, Enrage and Improved Slam all moved or changed cost. Read the tooltip at the trainer before spending points.

Frequently asked questions
Is Fury or Arms better for leveling in WoW Forever?
Arms is the safer choice for solo leveling: one two-hander, Overpower procs from Bloodthrill, and Weaponmaster for whatever weapon you find. Fury catches up once you have two good one-handers and can cover off-hand hit with Furious Precision. Our main warrior guide still recommends Protection from level 16 for the least downtime.
Does Bloodthirst heal in WoW Forever?
No. Blizzard's class deep dive says Bloodthirst no longer heals the Warrior; it grants 10% movement speed for 10 seconds instead. Fury's healing now comes from Gore Drinker, which restores health on your next 3 melee attacks after Bloodthirst, Enrage, Berserker Rage, Bloodrage or Death Wish.
Do you need Death Wish to get Flurry as Fury?
Not since the November 2 notes. On October 1 Blizzard made Death Wish a requirement for Flurry; on November 2 it removed that requirement and made Death Wish a requirement for Bloodthirst instead. Flurry is now a 3-point talent with 10/20/30% attack speed.
Does Whirlwind need a talent to hit with both weapons?
No. Since the October 1 notes, Whirlwind always strikes with both weapons without a talent. Raging Blows now reduces the Rage cost of Cleave and Whirlwind by 3 instead.
Can I switch between Fury and Arms while leveling?
Yes. Reset your talents at a class trainer in a major city. Dual Specialization unlocks at level 40, so from then on you can keep two builds, for example Arms or Fury for questing and Protection for dungeons.
