Agony and Doom are Banes in Forever, with one Bane per Warlock allowed on a target. Blizzard's Warlock deep dive establishes that restriction. Read your available effects before copying a familiar pull sequence.
Scope: beta mechanics checked October 17, 2026. This guide covers resource and pet preparation, without claiming a tested fastest specialization or complete 1–60 talent order.
Check your resource toolkit
| System | Confirmed change |
|---|---|
| Life Tap | Mana return scales with Spirit. |
| Drain Soul | Its chance to grant a Soul Shard increases after unsuccessful ticks, until guaranteed. |
| Demons | Pets scale from the summoner's stats. |
These changes are in the official class notes. Inspect the spells you currently have and their requirements before setting up a longer trip.
Prepare one sustainable pull
Check your character's health and mana, then your pet's condition. Choose where the encounter should happen before directing the pet toward an enemy. Keep your pet commands reachable if it needs to return.
After the fight, identify what needs recovery first. If your pet struggled, address its condition before sending it onward. If your own resources are low, recover before starting a more complicated pull. Avoid deciding that a successful emergency recovery makes the same pull comfortable to repeat.
For ongoing-damage effects, watch whether the target remains alive long enough to use the effect you applied. Think about that before refreshing everything automatically. Keep this observation separate from a damage ranking or a prescribed rotation.
Check Soul Shards before departure
Read the requirements of the summoning and utility spells you intend to use. Decide on a reserve for that trip, then inspect your inventory before leaving. Repeat the check after spending supplies or replacing a pet.
While replenishing, remember Drain Soul's progressive behavior. A first tick without a shard does not establish that the spell failed. Check the current tooltip and leave room in your plan for replenishment.
Pick a talent direction deliberately
Affliction develops ongoing damage and drains; Demonology emphasizes caster-and-pet interaction; Destruction offers a different direct-damage toolkit. Blizzard describes those directions, rather than a leveling-speed ranking.
Identify the next effect you want and inspect its prerequisites. Older lists need review: October 15 replaced Malediction with Grim Reach. Use the current beta correction.
For a group run, agree your responsibilities and add pet and supply checks to departure preparation. Our Forever dungeon guide covers the ruleset and faction requirements to confirm with friends.
