Set up your abilities before joining, and tell the group if you are learning. Read a guide for the dungeon you plan to run so you know which encounters need a closer look.

Before you join

Arrange your UI so you can see your health, group frames and the area around your character. Read the in-game encounter information where available.

  • Choose a role you understand.
  • Place your defensive and interrupt abilities on accessible keys if your class has them.
  • Make room in your bags.
  • Look up the specific dungeon before joining.

During the run

Follow the group’s agreed pace. Ask before starting an unfamiliar encounter, and describe the mechanic you do not understand. If you are learning a role, say so at the beginning.

After the run

Note one mechanic that caught you out and read about it before your next run. Pick one habit to work on next time.
